Swim with a school of gleaming dolphins and discover an underwater world with green turtles. Bask on secluded beaches and bathe in turquoise seas. Take a camel ride across the desert and dine ‘Bedouin style’ under the stars. Gaze at wonders of the world and stare into the eyes of ancient history. See for yourself all the magnificent treasures that Egypt has to offer.

Cairo & the Red Sea

  • Travelling - 1

Fly to Marsa Alam. Your Tour Guide and local guides will be on hand throughout the tour. Once a sleepy fishing village, Marsa Alam nestles between the mountainous expanse of the Sahara and the sparkling waters of the Red Sea amidst palm trees and mangroves. The beaches, coves and colourful coral reef have not disappointed those who have discovered this resort. Overnight Marsa Alam.

  • Snorkel With Turtles And Sea Cows - 2

The waters of Abu Dabbab are the perfect place for an introduction to the marine life of the Red Sea and a fantastic spot for swimmers and snorkellers. Enter the crystal clear sea and explore an underwater world where rainbow coloured fish flit through forests of coral. Blue spotted rays, blowfish, pufferfish and guitar sharks are just some of the species that inhabit these waters. Green turtles, small to huge, may join you; look out for the suckerfish which attach themselves to their shells. Dugong, related to the elephant and more commonly known as Sea Cow, spend their days snuffling along the seabed, grazing on juicy sea grass. Females often float on their backs, calves held in arm-like flippers. These grinning creatures can grow up to over 9ft in length. If you choose not to snorkel just relax on the boat or beach, sip a fresh fruit juice and enjoy the warm waters. Overnight Marsa Alam.

  • Swimming With The Dolphins - 3

Board a boat and cruise out to Samadai ‘Dolphin House’ where dozens of spinner dolphins have made their home in this crescent shaped reef with its shallow, protected cove. Don your snorkelling gear and slide into the sea. Put your head beneath the water and listen; you should hear the unique sounds of dolphins before you see them. These friendly creatures can leap into the air, spinning many times before entering the water again. They maximise the effect by landing with a belly or back-flop creating a special sound which informs fellow dolphins of their location. Spinning may also serve as a courtship display or possibly to eject trapped water from respiratory tracts. Of course it could simply be just for fun. The experience of swimming with these graceful wild animals in their natural environment is a truly wondrous experience and a ‘must do’ for lovers of marine life. Overnight Marsa Alam.

  • Day At Leisure - 4

Spend the day relaxing on the beach or by the pool and enjoy the facilities at your hotel.

  • Camel Ride To A Dinner Under The Stars - 4

Mount a camel for a ride across the sands. Despite their proud demeanour camels have been faithful friends to ‘desert dwellers’ throughout history, providing transportation, shelter, fuel and food. Learn more about these ‘ships of the desert’ and other wildlife of the Sahara as you watch a short documentary, then join your travelling companions for dinner under the stars. Enjoy traditional dishes, sip mint tea and experience a slice of Bedouin life, accompanied by a genuine local Bedouin. Overnight Marsa Alam.

  • Cairo And The Banks Of The Nile - 5

Leave the shores of the Red Sea and fly to the capital. Bustling, noisy, steeped in history and tradition and the largest city on the African continent, Cairo is always a fascinating experience. Overnight Cairo.

  • Great Pyramids & Sphinx - 6

Drive through the teeming streets and out to the legendary Pyramids which dominate the Giza skyline. Perhaps the most iconic symbols of the ancient world, these incredible monuments sit on the fringes of Cairo and stare out to the endless desert. As you listen to your guide and gaze in awe at these colossal man-made structures consider the geometrical accuracy and technical skill that went into their making thousands of years ago. Close by lies the magnificent Sphinx, a huge statue of a recumbent lion with a human head believed to be fashioned in the likeness of the Pharaoh Chephren.

  • Treasures Of Tutankhamen - 6

Discover the treasures of Tutankhamen at the world-famous Egyptian Museum. Gaze at Pharonic sculptures and other fabled contents of the tomb including the boy-king’s magnificent funeral mask and bejewelled throne. Overnight Cairo.

  • A Day In The City - 7

Ask your Tour Guide and local guide for their recommendations today. Browse in the labyrinth of shops and stalls of Khan-el-Khalili bazaar where the heady fragrance of spices and perfumed oils fills the air. Barter for hand-woven bedspreads and the finest quality Egyptian cotton shirts, appliquéd cushion covers and sequined belly-dancing costumes. Jostle amid elbows and shopping bags at the colourful fruit and vegetable market, and watch as street vendors prepare tasty dishes with vegetables and pulses; chick pea falafel, lentil kashary and medames, made with broad beans, are all favourites. Recharge with a cup of refreshing mint tea and nibble on sweet baklava or just recline on a plump cushion, puff on a sheesha and watch the world go by.

  • An Evening On The Nile - 7

Round off your stay in Cairo with an optional dinner cruise along the River Nile. Enjoy Egyptian cuisine and a sparkling and energetic display of belly-dancing. Overnight Cairo.

  • Travelling - 8

Fly to the UK, arriving the same day.
